Services

To prevent illness and recognize problems early, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling and looking their best:

Preventative care: Our goal is to prevent illness whenever possible. Vaccinations, heartworm testing, and most importantly a thorough physical exam are important for prevention and early disease detection. Whether you just got a new puppy or kitten, or are living with an adult or geriatric animal, we will tailor a plan for his or her needs.

Diagnostic and Imaging Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. Our Digital X-ray and Ultrasound equipment provide detailed imaging to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders.

Surgical and Anesthetic Services: Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We utilize state-of-the-art anesthetic agents, tailored to your pet, to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Our patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Dentistry: Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's oral health. Our dental services include prophylactic cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions, and oral surgery. We use an ultrasonic scaler to clean each tooth thoroughly above and below the gum line. The teeth are polished to create a smooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. We will work with you on ways to help keep their teeth clean longer with at-home care. Good dental hygiene can help improve your pet's quality and length of life.

Laboratory:  We utilize a commercial veterinary laboratory for advanced diagnostics and consultations.

Pharmacy: We maintain an inventory of pharmaceuticals, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Microchipping: We offer microchipping to help reunite you and your pet in the unfortunate event of separation.

Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. Nutritional needs in various disease states can also be managed by feeding of prescription diet formulas.

Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as separation anxiety, excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.  We offer both traditional anxiety medications as well as nutraceuticals.

Bathing and grooming: Therapeutic bathing and medicinal clipping services are available to help manage skin and coat conditions.  We do not have a groomer on staff, but we can refer you to a local grooming salon for regular grooming needs.

Emergency Care: Whenever possible, we are glad to help in emergency situations that arise during our office hours.  Please call ahead so we can be ready to act quickly upon your arrival.

Currently we recommend the following emergency hospital for emergencies outside of office hours: Salem Veterinary Emergency Clinic.

End of Life: Saying goodbye to your friend and family member may be one of the hardest decisions you ever have to make. However, knowing when to say goodbye can be the greatest gift of love one can give. We will work with you to help ensure your pet's comfort and dignity, as well as yours. We offer various services to help make this time easier on you and your family.

Euthanasia Service*:   After the quality of your pet's life has been assessed and it is time to say goodbye, euthanasia services are discussed.    It is  possible to arrange for your final goodbye to be performed outside of office hours.  This option gives families the ability to have the clinic to themselves when saying goodbye to your beloved friend and family member.

Care of Remains:

You have three options regarding the care of your friend and family member's remains:

  1. Private cremation allows you to retain the ashes of your pet and your pet ONLY. Remains are returned to you in a professional grade homemade, wooden urn.
  2. Communal cremation where your pet’s remains will be cremated with those of other pets. The ashes will be randomly dispersed in a natural setting.
  3. Home burial, which requires a burial of at least three feet.

Please call the clinic to discuss these options, especially if you are considering a home euthanasia.
